- Open QuickBooks, go to File-> Close Company.
- Select Open or restore an existing company from No Company Open Window.
- Select Open a company file and click Next button.
- Now select the company file from Company Files List.
- Click the checkbox of Open file in multi-user mode and click the open button.
- Now sign in your account.
If QuickBooks company file is located in a network folder with permission set to read only then follow following steps:
- Go to the computer hosting the company data file.
- Open Window explorer and search the folder in which your company file is stored.
- Now right click the folder containing your company file and select Properties-> Security tab.
- Click the name of group or user to change the permission.
- Check the Allow check box for Full Control for the user that needs access to the QuickBooks file and click Apply.
